You know you have more work to do, and you want the healing to happen in a meaningful and efficient way.

You don’t want to have to wait for your growth to happen.

It might feel like talk therapy only scratches the surface, or that just as you get close to profound change and growth, the session ends.

Maybe you’ve been dreaming of healing, but want the experience to be special and profound.

You can sense that your story deserves to be seen in its entirety.

Perhaps instead of putting pieces together over weeks and years, you would like to be able to have it all come together at once.

The experience

Imagine building a puzzle. You spend an hour on it every week, but at the end of that hour, you have to take it apart until the next week.

The second time you go to put it together, it might happen a little faster, because you are familiar with some of the pieces, but still, it takes time. That’s a little bit what weekly therapy can feel like for some people.

In EMDR intensives, we don’t have to take the puzzle apart. We continue to put it together until it’s complete.

My office is located on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, minutes from Portsmouth, an idyllic New England town. A perfect place to tuck in and heal.

Although therapy and travel aren’t always a pair we see together, having a destination for healing can make the process special. It allows for space from the stressors and distractions of everyday life, and lays the foundation for giving yourself the time you deserve.

Located 50 minutes north of Boston and 15 minutes from the beach. I am part of an integrative healing practice, with practitioners in the building offering massage therapy, energy work, Bowen, naturopathic mental health support, ayurvedic support and more.

You may consider booking yourself an integrative service before or after your intensive to encourage whole system healing.

Benefits of Intensive EMDR

EMDR in any form can be really powerful. There are several benefits of meeting for several days in a row instead of weekly.

More efficient use of time

In traditional weekly therapy, there are hellos, catch-ups, and goodbyes every session (and there needs to be!) but this takes up a lot of time and it can sometimes feel like by the time you are really digging in, you have to close back up. In an intensive format, there aren’t any catch-ups and the hellos and goodbyes are only once a day instead of every hour!

Less impact on schedule

For some people, it’s easier or makes more sense to take a block of days off from work once rather than taking time off weekly for months or years. Intensive work is a great option for people in high-performing or demanding jobs that require them to be back at work as quickly as possible.

Time-sensitive goals

Many people enter into therapy with time-sensitive goals. Anxiety getting in the way of a big presentation, amends desired at the end of a loved one’s life, or pressing changes needed in a relationship. While weekly therapy can help move a person toward those goals, it sometimes feels like it doesn’t help fast enough. Intensive work allows us to move you toward your goals in a matter of hours and days.

A profound sense of change and understanding

I find that when people have the opportunity to lay their entire lives out before them, things click differently. People start to make meaning of their actions, beliefs, and emotions in ways they have never been able to before.

You don’t have to live in New Hampshire

Ongoing weekly or bi-weekly therapy typically means you are limited to working with clinicians who are local, or at the very least in the same state as you. An EMDR intensive experience allows you to travel to NH to work with me distraction-free, returning home with your healing complete.

Life and alternative healing can continue

Sometimes adding “one more thing” into a healing rotation can feel overwhelming. With intensive work, you don’t have to pause what’s already helpful for you. In fact, I often encourage intensive clients to connect with a talk therapist after our work together. It can be helpful to have someone that you can talk about how to assimilate new understandings about yourself into present life.

Combining EMDR with Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

EMDR Intensives and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy are two passions of mine, both working to remove barriers that might be getting in the way of the healing work our bodies know how to do.

In many cases, either Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy or Intensive EMDR on their own are enough. In some cases, it may make sense to explore a combination of KAP and EMDR.

Combining the two allows us to take advantage of the increased flexibility and openness that the medicine provides to process memories that might otherwise feel out of reach or too painful. For others, the idea of utilizing the modalities together is appealing because of the potential for an increased sense of oneness or spiritual connection that can be an incredibly supportive component of healing.

If we choose to utilize both EMDR and KAP in our work together, we may utilize small doses of medicine during EMDR sessions or schedule EMDR sessions within a couple of days following a higher dose of medicine.

 Frequently asked questions

+ What does a day typically look like?

Intensive days begin at 9am and wrap up around 4pm. We will pause for lunch around 12 and take breaks as needed. I highly encourage listening intuitively and thoughtfully to your own needs during processing. Pausing to move, snack, or simply breathe when your system is asking for it is an important part of the process.

+ How many days will we meet?

I most commonly work with clients for 2-4 days, however, each session length is different because each person’s experiences and needs are different. Based on the information I obtain from you during our screening call or initial appointment, I will provide you with an estimate of the number of days I think the work will take. These estimates are usually correct within 1-2 days. If you do not have the number of days available that I recommend, we may be able to split the work up into a few blocks or may have to prioritize the memories we process.

+ What can I expect during and after processing?

It feels different for everyone, but many people describe feeling like they can more easily move through emotion, access deeper meaning, and find resolution. After EMDR, it’s not uncommon to feel tired or even a little off for a few days. This does not mean that anything is wrong, but if you have concerns following a session you are encouraged to call me.

+ What is the cost?

EMDR intensive work differs from more traditional forms of therapy in that the cost of treatment occurs upfront, instead of over the course of months or years. This can lower the overall amount you need to spend on your mental health in the future.

Part of my process as an intensive EMDR clinician is to connect and collaborate with your primary therapist and treatment team. This allows for supportive integration of your experience and whole-person care. The prices below are reflective of this collaborative time, which will occur outside of our appointments.

When we schedule your intensive, I am reserving that entire day to work with you. I charge an hourly rate of $220, making the daily (6-hours) rate of $1,320. The half day rate is $660. A 20% deposit is due at booking. The remaining 80% will be due at time of appointment. I accept checks or cash only as payment for intensives.

Intake appointments for in-state clients are encouraged as it helps us to prepare for your intensive in advance. The cost for the intake appointment is $250, and may be reimbursable by insurance.

I do not accept insurance, but am happy to provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance provider. If you are interested in exploring this option, you will want to call and ask them the following questions:

-Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health?

-If yes, what is the maximum allowed benefit?

-How many times per day can the code 90837 be billed?

Kindly read These Important Notes:

Cancellation Policy:

When we schedule your intensive or KAP session, I am reserving that entire day, or half day, to work with you and it is unlikely I will be able to use that time to meet with someone else if you are unable to make your appointment. If for some reason you are unable to keep your intensive appointment, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling. Deposits will be forfeited for any full-day (four or more hours) intensive appointment cancelled within 10 business days of your scheduled appointment. Deposits will be forfeited for any half-day (90-minutes to three hours) intensive appointment cancelled within five business days of your scheduled appointment.

Notice of availability and emergency support:

My private practice is not set up to provide emergency or 24/7 support. Because of this, I am not able to work with individuals who are in an active crisis or have recently been hospitalized. If we conclude after a screening call that my availability or speciality is not the right fit, I will provide you with names of clinicians and/or agencies who can provide more immediate, wrap-around care and healing.
